Hi everyone, my name is Zoe, and I’m an intern at Via travel. I’ll be writing some blogs on my experiences and thoughts about Via Travel and the East Coast of Australia. Today I’ll tell you why you should choose Via Travel to explore the East Coast of Australia. You can check all their Australia tour packages here. Are you ready? Let’s go!
- Travelling with Via Travel means : Unique experiences
The aboriginal experience was one I’ll never forget! The Giingan Experience is about the Gumbaynggirr people, language and culture.
We set off to the important cultural site of the Gumbaynggirr people, the stunning location of “Niigi Niigi” (Sealy Lookout) within the Orara East State Forest. Surrounded by amazing 360 degree views we were immersed into their beautiful culture through stories, songs, language and the uses of native plants. It was truly breath-taking and I felt so honoured to be a part of it.
By taking part in the experience, guests are really making a direct contribution to the revitalisation of Gumbaynggirr language and culture.
Having lived it, this is an unforgettable experience! But every day will be unique with Via Travel, thanks to their handpicked experiences, local knowledge and of course their fantastic guides!
- Friendly and knowledgeable local guides
Via’s guides are friendly, experienced and full of interesting facts. Their aim is to make your trip as easy, fun and comfortable as possible and to make sure that this will be a trip of a lifetime and one you will remember for years to come.
My guide was Caitlin and she was perfect! Always active, smiling and helpful. We were so lucky to have her as our guide as she had lots of useful, interesting information and inside knowledge! She went out of her way to make the tour special for us and she was so fun to be around!
- Small groups
As I said on another article that you can read (Why choose a small group adventure?), tours organized by Via Travel are in small groups, all of Via Travel’s tours have no more than 16 people, which is a real advantage in enjoying the trip.
This means that you can get to know many of your fellow travellers. On my tour, I was lucky enough to have met some amazing people who I will stay in touch with and maybe plan to meet again one day.
It was so great to make new friends to share all of the amazing experiences with and end each day sharing our thoughts and feelings around a very Australian beer, wine, cider or some yummy Aussi grub (food).
By the way, I had no idea that Australian food was so good! Who knew!! Did you know that one of the main reasons travellers return to Australia is for the food? And don’t forget about the wine too…. you won’t be disappointed.
- Share feelings together
At the end of the day, in a small group, you can meet your new friends to share your feelings about the day around a beer, a wine or a cider. It feels like a family or friend meeting. This is also the moment to share what you preferred !
- Very positive testimonials

- Amazing beaches and Snorkelling
I’m such a sucker for amazing beaches and I have to say that on our East Coast Australia tour I saw some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen and some of the most beautiful in the world. The Whitsunday islands were so outstanding and breathtaking. Whitehaven beach should be on everyone’s bucket list! You won’t believe it until you see it with your own eyes, the whitest squeaky sand, the most transparent turquoise waters. We had the best cruise out to the islands, stopping for an amazing snorkel where we spotted an abundance of marine life from giant turtles to coral and colourful fish.
- Fraser Island
Fraser Island was one of the highlights of our trip, it’s the largest sand island in the world and the only place in the world where tall rainforests grow on sand dunes, amazing right…there is no place quite like it! We were guided through on a 4WD, had an amazing dip at Lake McKenzie a pure rainwater lake, just a few of the sights wee see on this amazing island over two nights. And our accommodation at Kingfisher bay resort was just beautiful. Not to be missed!
I hope this short article will give you a little taste of the Via Travel small group trips!
All the best and see you on your next travel adventure!
