Australia East Coast Tours from Sydney

On this blog you’ll read about the experience happening on day 3 of the following tours: 14 day Sydney to Cairns7 day Sydney to Brisbane, and 18 day Sydney to Daintree

One of the most scenic drive days on the bus with Via Travel consists of a drive along Lakes Way, an alternate route to Port Macquarie and one of my favourites anywhere in New South Wales!

Lakes Way is one of those tourist drives that are just too good to be true with a series of salt water lakes like Myall Lakes and Wallis Lake becoming the centre piece for today’s drive. Pristine lakes are met with stunning State Forests and national parks making it an ideal place for hiking and swimming.

Forster is the first real opportunity to delve into crystal blue waves as fish and chips waft through the salty sea air. Forster is one of the most chilled out coastal locations in New South Wales, so take the opportunity to kick back in the sand and surf before hitting the road again!

Before arriving in Port Macquarie, time is spent gazing into the views you become encapsulated in from the majestic North Brother Lookout as you look out through the Camden Haven Inlet.

After a long day on the road, nothing says it better than a sunset cruise along the mighty Hastings River complete with a glass of bubbly and a curious local pod of dolphins who surf on the waves underneath the boat.

The following morning, be sure to rise early to capture the sunrise over the Pacific Ocean as surfers carve the crisp morning swell before heading off to see a couple of famous locals at the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital!
